NAS Setup

A NAS or Network Attached Storage is a great solution for your business or personal data. We use a NAS to keep all of our companies files organized and up to date between all of our office computers. Think of a NAS as your own personal cloud drive on your home or business network. The main advantage to a NAS is that if someone on one computer edits a file that is synced to the NAS it will be updated for all users on the network. You also will have a copy of your files across all the computers on the network that you with to sync. This way if one computer breaks or goes out of service, you will have a copy of the file on the NAS and on the other computers. Also, on the off chance the hard drive in your NAS goes out you can just put a new one in and have it pull your data from any of your devices that was previously synced to the NAS. There is no monthly subscription needed to operate your own NAS and the only data limit is the size of the hard drive which you put in your NAS. Merriman IT can help you select the perfect unit for your needs and hard drive(s) to go in it.

Most NAS setups will cost around $250 for the physical unit and drive itself and $200 or less for the setup.
