Thoughtful work and straightforward service
Vincent started Merriman IT in 2013 after being the person friends and family always called when something went wrong with their computers. More than a decade later, we’ve grown into a small family business run by a brother and sister duo, combining Vincent’s hands-on hardware expertise with Rachel’s background in design and content strategy.
Vincent Merriman
Vincent’s interest in technology began with a love of gaming, and eventually grew into building PCs and writing software as a hobby. He studied computer programming at Texas State and Austin Community College and has spent years sharpening his knowledge through hands-on experience. He’s naturally curious about how things work and finding creative solutions to technology challenges.
He started Merriman IT because he believed people deserved an alternative to big-box repair shops: reasonable prices, thorough work, and an honest answer about what’s actually worth fixing. That philosophy hasn’t changed as the business evolved past computer repair into data recovery, small-business IT, and design services.
Outside of his work for Merriman IT, Vincent develops video games and has released three original games on Steam. Catch him at Classic Game Fest or an Independent Game Developers Austin meeting!
Rachel Merriman
Rachel is a designer and writer who loves using technology to creatively solve problems and create beautiful and highly functional user experiences. She spent more than a decade in tech, first as a technical writer and then a UX designer, and has written feature articles and in-depth profiles for a variety of local Austin publications. She especially loves working with small businesses and creative people who know who they are and what they do, but aren’t quite sure how to translate it to the web. Outside of tech, Rachel is a ceramic artist and loves being involved in Austin’s creative ceramics community.

We figure out the problem first
Whether it’s a computer, a network, a website, or a business process, we want to understand what’s actually going on before recommending a solution.
We care about the details
We’re both people who like getting things right. That might mean tracking down an intermittent hardware problem, reorganizing a confusing website, or rewriting an instruction until it actually makes sense.
We’ll tell you what we think
If something isn’t worth repairing, you don’t need the service you thought you did, or there’s a simpler way to solve the problem, we’ll tell you.
